For more than two decades, the Greensboro Health Disparities Collaborative (GHDC) has been quietly but powerfully transforming how communities and health systems confront racial health disparities. Last year, as a part of the Greensboro Exchange with Richmond Memorial Hospital Foundation, we visited several Greensboro nonprofits and businesses. As a cultural hub, The Historic Magnolia House was a perfect location to discuss community wellness strategies, the immigrant experience, and economic mobility.

It’s already been an exciting 2025 for Jamilla Pinder, Director, Community Engagement and Impact at Cone Health Foundation. On February 4, Jamilla was sworn in as the newest member of Greensboro’s City Council. filling the seat of the late Yvonne Johnson.

Yazmin Garcia Rico, Director of Community Engagement and Impact, has been named to Triad Business Journal’s 2025 Class of 40 Under 40 list.

The Cone Health Foundation is thrilled to welcome three new community leaders to Cone Health Foundation’s Board: Anthony Boyd, Eric Townsend and Gerald Walden.

The Thrive Foundation recently completed several impactful community programs, thanks to funding from our Nurturing Equity Program grant. Through a combination of workshops and social-emotional learning (SEL) initiatives, Thrive focused on supporting children, women, and local organizations to foster mental health, wellness, and confidence.

Cone Health Foundation wants to express our heartfelt gratitude to Board members Ross Harris, Kim Gatling, and Dr. Kelly Leggett, who recently completed their terms. Their leadership, dedication, and vision have been instrumental in advancing our mission and making a lasting impact on our organization and community.

In July, we welcomed Kardie Tobb, DO, MS, FACC, to the Cone Health Foundation Board of Directors. Dr Tobb is the Medical Director and founder of the Cone Health Heart and Vascular Cardio-Obstetrics/Women’s Heart Health program.
