The Thrive Foundation recently completed several impactful community programs, thanks to funding from our Nurturing Equity Program grant. Through a combination of workshops and social-emotional learning (SEL) initiatives, Thrive focused on supporting children, women, and local organizations to foster mental health, wellness, and confidence.
The Confident Kids pilot program was a standout initiative, offering a 4-week curriculum designed to build children’s self-esteem and social awareness. Each participant received a box of affirmation cards, T-shirts, and SEL lessons. The program concluded with a celebratory reception and parent engagement through surveys, with gift cards provided as incentives.
The Thrive Foundation served over 60 children in the Greensboro and High Point areas, focusing on children ages 5-10. It also provided wellness workshops to more than 20 women and supported two local businesses in improving staff well-being.
Participants shared positive feedback, noting the workshops helped them improve their mental well-being and build confidence. “Seeing the joy on the children’s faces after completing the program was incredibly rewarding,” said Reketta Wright, Thrive Foundation’s Executive Director. Moreover, Ms. Wright shared, “it takes a team—board members, partners, and ongoing funding—to create sustainable change.”
