We are thrilled to welcome three new community leaders to Cone Health Foundation’s Board:

  • Anthony Boyd, Business Services Officer III/VP for First Bank. Mr. Boyd has been a part of the Triad’s banking community for nearly 25 years. He is a long-time community volunteer and currently serves on the Board of the United Way of Greensboro and as the Finance Chair of the St. James Baptist Church.

  • Eric Townsend, Assistant Vice President for Academic Communications for Elon University. In this role, Mr. Townsend coordinates a team of school-based public relations professionals to ensure consistency of messaging and brand identity. He also serves as a Board member for Guilford Education Alliance; is Vice Chair of The Enrichment Fund for Guilford County Schools, and is an active PTA member for Sternberger Elementary.

  • Gerald Walden, Group Vice President – General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for The Fresh Market, Inc. Prior to his current role, Mr. Walden also served as the company’s first Head of Diversity from 2021 – 2023. Mr. Walden currently serves on NC A&T’s Board of Visitors, NCCU Law’s Board of Visitors, Elon Law School’s Advisory Board, and as Vice President of the National Employment Law Council. In 2023, he was recognized as a Leader in Diversity by the Triad Business Journal, as well as one of the “100 Most Influential African Americans in North Carolina” by Black Business Ink Magazine.

Each brings a wealth of expertise, civic leadership and community engagement to this role, specifically in our social drivers of education, economic mobility, safe and healthy housing, healthy food, and access to health care.
